I went to see this band play yesterday, having had an invitation from a friend who had recently joined (thats him on the hang drums) I went along without any preconceptions and consequently had my mind blown. The live show included a mix of Jazz elements fused with what I can only describe as ‘London-Rhythms’ (broken-garage-shuffly type beats) and left me very, very impressed….the guys have been also recently been nominated for the Mercury Music Award so keep your eyes on the prize!
Mr. Ho is crashing on my couch for a couple of days. We’re making music on the drumcomputer and he brought me some snacks from the pharmacy. This is what we’re listening to right now! A-Side: NY House Trak, B-Side: Can You Feel It?
Happy painfree Monday.
Two of my favourite things…TOKYO! CRATE DIGGING! DJ Muro breaks it down on the early days of the Tokyo Hip Hop scene, his infamous mixtape and his book – 45RPM Cover Museum (want!).
Johanna’s second release is with us and to celebrate we are having a free get-together at our favourite Berlin based record store, OYE! Catch us on Thursday 5th of April for drinks and good times, music will be supplied by myself and Ms. Knutsson (all vinyl of course!).
Peep the freshly release snippets of the EP over on soundcloud.
Whats white, spins around and sounds lovely? James’ debut Klasse release of course…for those who want something a little more tactile than an MP3, look no further than here.
I remember way back in 2002, stumbling onto the old CBS site and finding hours and hours worth of strange and exciting music. The mixes from Viewlexx, I-F and Lone Ranger (was he called Lone Ranger?) were an incredible porthole into the crazy scene in Den Haag, first and foremost I couldnt believe their collection of Miami Bass…and all on vinyl too!! This documentary explores the early days, from Bunker’s inception and onwards…enjoy!
Huxley and (James) Huxley run a new label called Saints & Sonnets, they just had their second release out…and for some reason this remix didn’t make the cut (not sure why, its velly nice). So if you like it too, you can catch it for free!
Don’t you all just love Sundays?
