Jungle Fever
I love watching old documentaries! They make me nostalgic.
This BBC documentary here entitled ‘All Black - Jungle’ from 1994 is a contemporary document about the beginnings of Jungle and how it crossed over into the mainstream. It portrays some of the early Jungle and Drum & Bass players like Shy FX, DJ Rap, LTJ Bukem, MC Conrad (among others), as well as urban youth culture and identity in London & Britain at that time. From an artist / DJ / label perspective it is particularly interesting to see how technology has revolutionized the way young people can make their own music in their homes, and how little the foundations and basic mechanisms of the music industry have changed that much in the last 15 years.
